Projects & Financing Print

CheckTB! designs in close cooperation with stakeholders TB case detection projects eligible for financing through Dutch government and other donors. Financing for TB projects with a total value of over € 30 million was obtained.

Projects are developed in cooperation with Ministries of Health, NTP's, WHO/Stop TB, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation and NGO’s in countries eligible for healthcare financing with the aim to improve TB control and to combat co-infection with HIV. These projects will be in the field of research, capacity building, services and medical solutions which can include prevalence surveys, microscopy, (mobile) labs, digital radiology, tele-radiology facilitated by remote/centralized image reading through PACS and molecular tests such as Xpert. CheckTB! has experience with UN organizations, various donors, NGO's and public healthcare. CheckTB! staff is fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish, Portuguese and French and mobilises a global network of experienced professionals to set up projects institutionally and support local project implementation.

In cooperation with partners, CheckTB! develops innovative projects to support TB case detection in low and medium resource countries. A "Charge per CheckTB!" is available for NTPs who find the initial investment of digital radiology too big an obstacle for rapid implementation in NTPs. Through this concept access to the benefits of digital radiology is given by being charged monthly per image or per image diagnosed by remote radiologists. This concept will become even more valuable with the introduction of CAD4TB, a Computer Aided Diagnosis tool for TB.

Various funders already support access to digital imaging for TB control:

  • Global Fund
  • World Bank
  • European Union
  • National Government budgets
  • Dutch Ministry of Development Cooperation (ORIO)
  • Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (senternovum)
